Second Mile Ministries exists to share the compassion of Jesus Christ with our community. We provide counseling, food, and financial help with past-due bills for electricity, water, and rent to licensed landlords. Every Wednesday, our volunteers counsel and assist approximately 30 local families by praying, providing a Biblical devotion, as well as a listening ear and service. Every single week, we have between 8-12 new clients that have not been to Second Mile before. In addition…

The Backpack Ministry for Riverside School feeds up to 97 misplaced or homeless children at Riverside.

Our Legacy Childcare Ministry is an area where we help the staff who have financial and food needs. This is an extension of our church family and an opportunity to serve our own. We are blessed to assist them.

We assist our church members who face life changing financial and food needs. We are helping numerous church members that are unable to provide for their own needs. The Second Mile Ministry considers it our calling to help those in need.

2ND MILE MINISTRY HAS A NORMAL OPERATING SCHEDULE ON WEDNESDAY MORNINGS IN OUR CAFÉ. THE DESIGNATED ENTRANCE IS NOTED WITH A SIGN AND A HANDICAP RAMP ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE EDUCATION BUILDING (WHICH FACES MAIN STREET).

OUR DOORS OPEN AT 7:30 AM. MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING ARE NOT REQUIRED. OUR OPERATING SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE ACCORDING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES.

REGISTRATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR DURHAM COUNTY RESIDENTS NEEDING HELP WITH PAST DUE RENT OR UTILITY BILLS WILL BEGIN AT 7:30 AM. APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE FIRST 20 PEOPLE IN LINE. WE BEGIN AT 9AM WITH A BRIEF WELCOME AND ENCOURAGING WORD FROM ONE OF OUR CHURCH PASTORS.

CLIENTS WILL THEN MEET WITH OUR TRAINED VOLUNTEER COUNSELORS IN PERSON. WE ALSO WILL PROVIDE A BAG OF NON-PERISHABLE GROCERIES FOR ANY ON-CAMPUS CLIENTS.

PLEASE BRING A PHOTO ID AND A COPY OF YOUR PAST DUE BILLS TO REGISTER. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, YOU MAY CALL BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:30 AND 11:00 ON WEDNESDAY MORNINGS TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE.

Please note: THE 2ND MILE OFFICE IS NOT OPEN DURING THE OTHER WEEKDAYS AND RESOURCES ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE ON SUNDAYS BY OUR PASTORS OR STAFF. 2ND MILE WILL TYPICALLY CLOSE THE OFFICE IF THE DURHAM COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM IS CLOSED (FOR WEATHER OR BREAKS) AND ON HOLIDAY WEEKS (SUCH AS 4TH OF JULY AND CHRISTMAS/NEW YEARS WEEKS). A NOTICE WILL BE POSTED ON OUR ENTRANCE DOOR IF WE HAVE TO CLOSE.
